A Dashboard Is Only As Good As the Data Under It

Plenty of factories have a dashboard. Far fewer have a dashboard anyone trusts. The screen looks convincing, but the numbers were assembled from a spreadsheet someone updates by hand, pulled from three tools that disagree on units, and stale by the time the shift starts. When the yield figure and the floor's gut feeling disagree, people believe the floor — and the dashboard quietly becomes wallpaper.

We build dashboards the other way around. First the data underneath is real: your tool output is parsed, validated, and mapped into one clean, structured source, so every chart is drawing from the same trustworthy records. Then the interface sits on top of that foundation. This is why our dashboard work is inseparable from our data mapping — a beautiful chart over bad data is just a faster way to make a wrong decision.

Live Yield, Scrap, and SPC Dashboards

The dashboards we build most often are the ones a plant manager checks first thing in the morning: yield by lot, tool, shift, or line; scrap tracked with the reason attached, not just a total; and statistical process control on the handful of parameters that actually drive quality. Instead of a monthly report that arrives too late to act on, you get a live picture that moves with the process.

Because the underlying data is validated, the views hold up under scrutiny. You can drill from a plant-wide yield number down to a single tool, a single lot, or a single out-of-spec measurement without the totals falling apart. When a trend heads the wrong way, the dashboard can surface it — and, if you want, send an alert — while there is still time to do something about it.

Not everything on the floor is read-only. We build apps where operators and inspectors put data in, not just look at it: logging a scrap reason at the station, recording a manual measurement, running through an inspection checklist, or flagging a machine that just went down. Entries are validated as they are typed and tied to the operator, lot, and station, so what goes into the system is as clean as what comes out of your tools.

These run well on shop-floor hardware — a wall-mounted terminal at the line, a rugged tablet at a workstation, or a shared kiosk between cells. The layouts use large touch targets and high-contrast type that a person can read and tap with gloves on, from a few feet away, without hunting for a tiny button. The goal is that logging data takes seconds and feels like less work than the clipboard it replaces.

Mobile Access and Role-Based Views

A supervisor should not have to walk to a terminal to see how the line is running. Everything we build is responsive, so the same system a floor kiosk shows in full also fits a phone — trimmed to the numbers and actions that matter when you are moving between cells or away from the plant. There is no separate download to manage unless you specifically want a native app.

Different people need different things from the same data, so views are role-based. An operator sees their station and the entries they are responsible for. A supervisor sees the line. A quality engineer sees SPC and out-of-spec detail. A manager sees the plant-wide roll-up. Everyone is looking at one source of truth, just filtered to their job — which keeps the screens uncluttered and the permissions clear about who can change what.

The front end is React and Next.js with TypeScript, styled to be fast and legible on floor hardware. The back end and data work are typically Python, which is also where the parsing and validation of your tool files live. For mobile-heavy needs we can build a React Native app that ships to iOS and Android from one codebase. It is a mainstream, well-supported stack, so you are never locked into anything obscure.
